Field was located between two bridges about 500 m apart, and the width of island was about 250 m. The city of Vienna removed about 10 trees to make a 100 by 100 m flying field possible. Still the nearest trees and bushes were only 5-10 m from the boundary of the field. So, depending on the wind direction the air flow was either gusty and turbulent or very gusty and very turbulent. Stage in field was just large enough to stretch out the lines and fly in a narrow wind window. On the 1st competition day stage in field had less wind than the competition field and on the 2nd day vice versa. On 2nd day, judges made a decision to allow two sets of equipment taken to the field. If the flyer(s) found out they had improper equipment in hand they had opportunity to call "equipment change" and 2 minutes time to do it. Fair enough. Most of the flyers used the opportunity to take two sets of equipment to the field. But I did not notice anybody actually needed the change. The event ended in scheduled time, despite of the wet weather and equipment change option. This seems to be a fair and working solution to the problem we have discussed a lot after World Cup. I hope we'll get it in the next Rule Book update. Smooth Winds Simo.Salanne@csc.fi = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
