Hammond Subject: bmap sharer Size: 3K A C map->bdes converter for sharing bmaps. Originally dontated by a Riverworld player (Camelot) and stored in the online info pages. Finally uploaded to empire.net by harmless. #### FILE autofeed **** Date: 11 May 1994 From: Jim Gillogly Size: 2K autofeed moves food from sectors with too much to those with too little. (It uses "dump" rather than "starv" so it is a little slow). #### FILE beeper.pl **** Date: 31 May 1995 From: Ken Stevens Subject: Telegram Beeper Size: 4K This perl script logs into a game using pei and checks to see if you have any telegrams. If you do, it reads the telegrams and then mails them to you using the standard unix mailer. If you don't have any telegrams, then it waits a number of minutes (user configurable) and then tries again. #### GZIP chitools.tar.gz **** Date: 24 Apr 1995 From: Ken Stevens Subject: Children's tools Size: 18K This archive contains 7 tools for use with Chainsaw 3.0 empire: These tools are heavily dependent on running the client eif in a unix environment. If you aren't using eif, then these tools will be of no use to you. 1) cmvr: move your civs from over-populated sectors to under-populated ones 2) feed: feed your starving civs from a warehouse 3) del: calculate net production delta of all commodities 4) post: mail-like interface for reading telegrams--it remembers which ones you've read. 5) wingit: organise your planes into wings and count efficient planes by type 6) Edata: database for storing information from satellites. It also generates pretty bmaps. 7) newsparse: This script reads through the news and then figures out who is beside who in the world. -Buster, ruler of children stevens@math.utoronto.ca #### GZIP continent.gz **** Date: 18 Apr 1993 From: Ken Stevens Size: 1K This little script reads the news and tries to guess which countries are near each other. #### GZIP hex.ps.gz **** Date: 1 Sep 1992 From: Scott Yelich Subject: Print post-script hex paper Size: 4K #### GZIP hmtools.tar.gz **** Date: 24 Nov 12:35 From: Drake Diedrich Subject: Miscellaneous Chainsaw Tools Size: 57K A whole slew of obsolete Chainsaw tools. Use as you wish. Most of these tools are written in awk. The first line #!/bin/awk -f may need to be replaced with #!/bin/nawk -f or #!/usr/local/bin/gawk -f on systems such as Solaris that keep an older variety of awk around. If you see complaints about functions, try nawk or gawk. Many of these were quick hacks and lifted directly from the simu program. airport - estimate work and commodities used in airports ann.awk - filter out announcements from a log file asat - launch asats at all visible satellites bdesmap - change map data into bdes commands. For sharing map info. capture - turn player data into deity commands to recreate a simulated world cmap - maps labelled with country names cmvr - another civ mover comm - a summary tool cond.pl - condenses a log file to only the interesting bits (perl) condense - condenses a log file (awk) delta - Ken's delta program fisher - nav and unload fishing boats fixfallout - set all fallout to zero (deity tool) fixunit - set unit numbers to correct value - occaisionally needed by deity fixwork - set all work% to 100. Useful when you starve a world (deity). fmvr - another food mover godview - deity world summary tool landsat - satellite target summary tool looklog - log file filter for look/etc data miner - logfile filter for mines, generates bdes commands missiler - launch tactical missiles at ships mmvr - another mil mover mobcost - mobility cost calculator odes - bdes oil contents of sea sectors (0-9) opt - calculate optimal number of people in sectors pathfind - runs pathfind on server rather than in simu (hack) prodreport - filter out production reports from log file report - calculate upper and lower bounds of foreign technology levels reso - summary tool router - set dist routes satlaunch - launch satellites. Abandoned? shipsim - ship-aware simu simu - update simulator (awk) strader - nav and scuttle trade ships tel.awk - extract announcements and telegrams from logfile umvr - uw mover (buggy?) wars - summarize relations whentab - generate table of activity by hour #### GZIP hub-0.1.tar.gz **** Date: 12 Feb 00:25 From: Drake Diedrich Subject: EmpireHub Size: 6K An empire protocol splitter and multiplexor. Clients connect to this program, rather than the empire server. Multiple clients may connect, and a single data stream is sent to the server. Returned data is then sent to the appropriate client (or all of them in some cases). #### GZIP news_power.tar.gz **** Date: 24 Apr 1995 From: Jim Gillogly Subject: News Parser Size: 5K news_power.sh parses the news into a more concise form and produces a summary report at the end. #### GZIP simu.gz **** Date: 11 May 1994 From: Drake Diedrich Subject: Update Simulator Size: 7K simu is an update simulator, showing you what your country will look like after the next update. #### GZIP toolkit3.0.8.tar.gz **** Date: 1 Jan 11:49 Size: 70K #### GZIP ve.tar.gz **** Date: 28 Nov 04:03 From: Don Harper Subject: Visual Empire, a cursers country viewer Size: 40K ve.tar.Z "visual empire" is a cursers interface for viewing your country. It was written by Matthew Diaz, Michael Baldwin, Bill Jones, Jim Knutson, Ken Montgomery, Dan Reynolds, Jeff Wallace, and Julian Onions (*whew!*). This is a slightly updated version of ve which will work with the chainsaw mods ( ie units ). It will compile as is under VMS 5.x, Ultrix 4.x, SunOS 4.3.x, Linux ( a.out ), and OSF1. It will run most of the time under all of the above, but it may not work with Empire2.x or Empire3.x! I am uploading this because someone asked for it. I may update it for the new server, but no promises.
